Death of Charley Legate's Mother---Mrs. Emeline M. Legate died at Mineral Point, Wisconsin, March 19, aged eighty-one years. The Mineral Point Democrat of March 25 said; Mrs. Legate was the wife of the late Charles F. Legate. She was born in Hartford, Conn., and for a time resided in Providence, Rhode Island. She came to the West at an early day, and so has been identified with its history, In its wonderful development. It was during her residence in Hartford she became attached in the Episcopal Church, and was in the habit of attending Christ's Church, then under the rectorship of Rev. Philander Chase, afterward Bishop of Ohio and Illinois. The strong impression made at this time was never lost, and although she was not confirmed at that time she embraced the first opportunity after she came West, and ever afterward illustrated in her life the solemn vow and promise then made and while recognizing truth and goodness wherever they may be, she had a strong attachment for the church of her choice and conviction, and up to the last she took the most lively interest in all that concerned its advancement; and for all church and charitable articles--unsolicited --- her offering was ready. Such lives make themselves felt in any community. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon.
