Elizabeth Legate was the daughter of Charles Franklin Legate and Emeline Mary Shepard.
Before 1850 (birth of daughter, Florence), she married Levi Finley Craft at Mineral Point, WI. Following the wedding, they moved to Sacramento, CA, where he engaged in the mercantile business. They also lived for a time in Marysville, CA. They had two children: Florence Adelle Craft (1850-1910); and Everett Legate Craft (1856-1886).
In 1857, the family moved to Woodland, CA, where she lived for the rest of her life.

July 7, 1905 (Friday):
"In Woodland, CA, on June 25, 1905, Elizabeth Craft, wife of the late L. S. [sic] Craft."
According to the CA certificate of death, she died on 27 Jun 1905 at the age of 73 years, 11 months, 23 days, so she was born on 4 Jul 1831. This record says she was born in RI, and census records agree. The certificate of death is a more reliable source for the date of death than the obituary, so the 27 Jun 1905 date is used in this memorial.
