Cathryn was born in Lumberton, North Carolina on August 24, 1925. She was the tenth child born to the union of Hettie and Ernest Inman.
After graduating as valedictorian from Redstone Academy at the age of fifteen, she continued her education at North Carolina Central State University in Durham, North Carolina where she received a B.A. degree in Business Administration.
Cathryn was employed by the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. wwith the National Council of Advisors tot he President and frequently observed President Truman firsthand in his daily work. She later returned to Durham, North Carolina to work as the private secretary to the President of NCCU where she met her future husband.
On November 19, 1954, she married William W. Adams, M.D. They have three children, Coralynne Adams and Joanne Adams, of St. Louis, Missouri and William W. Adams,III of Los Angeles, California. She was the grandmother of three, Danielle, Wesley and Brynn; and the sister of Althea Petty and Ida Elizabeth Cameron of Washington, D.C.
The Adams family moved to University City, Missouri in 1966. Most recently, Cathryn was the office manager for her husband's medical practice in East St. Louis, Illinois. Dr. Adams retired in 1998 as a physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology.
Cathryn was a member of The Moles, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Jack & Jill of America. She will be greatly missed by her family and a host of friends.

Catherine Inman Adams, of Missouri, a former resident of Lumberton, died Monday at University City, Mo.

She attended Thompson Institute and Redstone Academy in Lumberton. She was a graduate at North Carolina Central University in Durham, where she studied Business Education. She married a dentist, William Adams and they resided in Missouri.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Hettie Inman, both of Lumberton.

Surviving are her husband, William Adams of the home; two daughters, Cora Lynn and Joan; a son, William, Jr.; two aunts, Ida Elizabeth Cameron and Althea Petty, both of Washington, D.C.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
