Elmer Clay Bodkin, 69, of Sugar Grove, died Wednesday. March 31 in the University of Virginia Medical Center.
He was born June 1 1912 in Sugar Grove, son of Henry C. and Bertha Simmons Bodkin. Mr. Bodkin was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for 25 years. He was a member of Crummett's Run Church of the Brethren. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nellie E. Bodkin; three daughters, Miss Charlotte Bodkin of Sugar Grove; Mrs. Lorena Hoover of Brandywine, W.Va.; and Mrs. Karen Simmons of Franklin, W.Va.; one son, Elmer L. Bodkin of Sugar Grove; one brother, Ralph Bodkin of Sugar Grove and four grandchildren. A service was conducted Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Velton Simmons. Burial was in Crummeat's Run Church cemetery.
