Ralph Homer Botkin, 84, of Sugar Grove, died Monday, April 23, 2001 at the home of his son, Roland Botkin in Harrisonburg. He was born July 11, 1916, a son of Henry Clay and Bertha Simmons Botkin. Mr Botkin was a member of the Crummett's Run Church. He had worked for the Forest Service and retired from the West Virginia Highway Department 22 years ago. After retiring, he was engaged in farming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Marie Wilfong Botkin, on Dec. 20, 1979. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Clay Bodkin, and a stepdaughter, Marjorie Atwell. He is survived by two sons, Roland T. Botkin and Ralph Eugene Botkin, both of Harrisonburg; two granddaughters; a step-granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. James S. Bosserman.
