Maynard was a 1958 graudate of Carlton High School and had worked for the Acme Tool Co. in Minneapolis, worked construction in Minneapolis and Duluth and later worked as a Health Care Worker in California. He married Minerva 'Minnette' Mendez Picache in 1995.
Maynard is preceded in death by his parents; foster parents, Al and Angeline Nyberg; brother, Delbert; foster sister, Caroline DeSanto; and step-son, Mark Honkala.
He is survived by his wife, Minerva 'Minnette' Honkala; children, Cheri Lynn Honkala, Philadelphia, Maria Schultz, Gina Honkala and Ann (Robert) Anderson, all of Minneapolis, Callie Jo Honkala, Kewaskum, Wis.; stepdaughter, Marie Picache, Proctor; stepson, Ohskar Picache, Calif.; sisters, Vivian (Herb) Huard, Duluth, Delores 'Dory' Nelson, Proctor, Dolly (Larry) Wood, Two Harbors, Marilyn (Lee) Fawcett, Duluth, Cheryl (Mario) Schinigoi, Duluth; foster sister, Julie Norton, Duluth; brothers, Wil A. (Doris) Honkala, St. Paul, Marvin (Char) Honkala Gunnarson, Cloquet, Clarence (Fe) Honkala, Glendale, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
VISITATION: noon until the 1 p.m. service Saturday in the Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home. Committal service 3:30 p.m. at Park Hill Cemetery. Memorials preferred.
