Martha Amelia Glader Honkala, 84, of Duluth, died Friday, March 6, 1998, in St. Luke's Hospice, surrounded by many family and friends.

Born in Stoney Brook Township near Cloquet on July 6, 1913, to parents Oscar and Ida Lindell Glader, she attended Central High School in Duluth. Martha married Alfred Honkala in Duluth on June 3, 1931. She lived in Floodwood from 1937 until returning to Duluth in 1942, and worked at the former Chinese Lantern and Hotel Duluth.

She was a member of Women of the Moose.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1960; a son, Delbert in 1944; brothers Frank, Albert and Henry Glader; and sisters Anna Seguin, Helga Kultala; Ida Kaleton and Tyra Glader.

She is survived by daughters Vivian (Herbert) Huard of Duluth, Dory Nelson of Proctor, Dolly (Larry) Wood of Two Harbors, Marilyn (Lee) Fawcett and Cheryl (Mario) Schinigoi, both of Duluth; sons Wil A. (Doris) Honkala of Woodbury, Minn., Marvin (Char) Honkala Gunnarson of Cloquet, Clarence (Fe) Honkala of Glendale, Calif., Maynard (Minnette) Honkala of Placerville, Calif.; a brother, William O. Glader of Duluth; 40 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren and many friends at Chris Jensen Nursing Home.

Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, Van Buren Township, near Floodwood.
