Funeral Services for A. C. Herbold Held Monday

Amos C. Herbold, 88, a lifelong resident of Jasper county and a prominent farmer and livestock buyer, died Friday at an Altoona nursing home.

Mr. Herbold suffered a heart attack, after spending about three weeks in the Methodist hospital in Des Moines due to arteriosclerosis of the right leg.

He is survived by two sons, E. O. Herbold, Colfax and Alan Herbold, Rt. 2, Newton; two grandsons, Larry and James Herbold, and three granddaughters, Lenis, Janet and Martha Herbold, besides many other nephews and nieces.

Mr. Herbold was born Jan. 22, 1869 in Jasper county, the son of Christian and Christina Herbold. He grew to manhood here and was educated in the rural schools.

He was united in marriage Sept. 30th, 1898 to Jennie Parker. Mrs. Herbold preceded him in death. Their entire married life was spent on the farm northeast of Colfax.

Mr. Herbold was a member of the Methodist church and a long time member of the Sand Hill Grange.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Toland Funeral Home in Newton with burial in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Pall bearers were George T. Weirick, Howard Herbold, Ray Herbold, Joe Herbold, Gerald Herbold and Glen Herbold.

In charge of flowers were Mrs. Earl Pink, Mrs. Harry Selbher and Mrs. Leonard Davis.
