William Herbold, well known farmer living northeast of Colfax and a brother of C.H. Herbold of Colfax died Thursday morning at his home following a short sickness.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Lutheran church in Newton with Rev. Boldt officiating.
Mr. Herbold was born in Germany, May 30, 1849, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Herbold and at an early age came to Iowa to make his home.
Mr. Herbold was one of the large land owners of Jasper County and a successful farmer and stockman.
He never married and is survived by three brothers and two sisters, Chris H. Herbold of Colfax, A.C. Herbold of Newton, L.P. Herbold of Montana, Mrs. Sophia Carrier, Newton, and Mrs. Minnie Armstrong of Newton, George Weirick of Colfax is a nephew.
