JONESBORO -- The Rev. J.W. "Dub" ADAMS, 64, of Jonesboro died Saturday, June 11, at his residence.

Born at Brookland, he lived most of his life in the Jonesboro area. He was the pastor of First General Baptist Church of Jonesboro for several years and was an Army veteran. He was a member of Bethabara Promise Keepers.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce ADAMS of the home; three daughters, Terrie Higgins, Angie Boling and Connie Johnson, all of Jonesboro; three sisters, Janet Brunson of Kansas City, Mo., Aline Sidenstricker of Jonesboro and Mae Smullins of Brookland; five brothers, Virlon ADAMS of Bono, Clarence ADAMS and Bill ADAMS, both of Brookland, and Virgil ADAMS and Gene ADAMS, both of Kansas City; six grandchildren, Tera Bryant, Ben Bryant, Cody Higgins, Jesse Higgins, Matt Johnson and Dillon Johnson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel, with Jerry Thompson, Leonard Hensley and Brad Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Davidson Sr., Jimmy Davidson Jr., Henry Lee Oswald, Paul Johnson, Homer ADAMS and Fahlen Wainscott.

Honorary pallbearers will include Men of First General Baptist Church and members of Bethabara Promise Keepers.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
