Dorothy M. Buvoltz Abbey, 84, of Jamestown Street, Randolph, passed away Thursday, (Sept. 20, 2012), at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
She was born Aug. 8, 1928, in the town of South Valley, N.Y., the daughter of the late Louis and Daisy Kennison Buvoltz.
Dorothy was a 1946 graduate of Randolph Central School, and retired from the Randolph Central School Gail N. Chapman Elementary after many years of service.
Following her retirement, she worked for the Ran-dolph Union Free Academy as an aide and foster grand- parent.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Randolph. She enjoyed studying her Bible, bird watching, watching cooking shows on television and was known as the fami-ly peacemaker, whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by two sons: Harry "Butch" Abbey of Gerry, N.Y., and Randy W. Abbey of Randolph; five grandchildren: Susan Lindsley, Aaron Peelman, Kerri Al-Khazraji, Candie Abbey and Hanna Abbey; six great-grandchildren: two brother: Louis "Babe" Buvoltz and his wife, Marilyn, of Russell, Pa., and Herald Buvoltz and his wife, Phyllis, of Fredonia.
She was preceded by her husband, Robert R. Abbey, whom she married on July 23, 1950, and who preced-ed her on Oct, 9, 1980; twin brothers: Stephen and Stewart Buvoltz and Harry Buvoltz; and sisters: Anna Shaw, Florence Gates-Colburn and Julia Covert.
