Raymond R. Pecht, 81, of 2040 Philadelphia Ave., Lot 3, and formerly of 120 State St., Kistler, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 1997, in his home after a long illness.


Born April 2, 1916 in Ryde, he was a son of the late William Ewing and Edna Rorer Pecht.


He married Grace L. Hess on October 10, 1940 in York, S.C.


A former member of Grace United Methodist Church, Mapleton, he currently was a member of United Methodist Church, Allenport. He taught adult Sunday school classes in both churches.


A retired sergeant, he served 21 years in the U.S. Army. He served during World War II.


He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and drove a bus for Allenport Elementary School for five years.


In addition to his wife, surviving are five daughters, Kaylene Steel of Chambersburg, Judy Glenny of Shippensburg, Debby Wagaman of Fayetteville, Naomie Linn of Newton Hamilton and Cindy Wilson of Shippensburg; a son, Richard of Blairs Mills; 17 grandchildren; 16 great0grandchildrne; a sister, Ida Mae Behrendt of Hershey; and three brothers, George D. and Donald B., both of McVeytown, and Robert of Hershey.


A son and three brothers preceded him in death.


Service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union. The Rev. Rich Morris will officiate. Burial will be in Bowman's Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton.


Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
