William Ewing Pecht of Stoyatown, formerly of the Newton Hamilton camp ground, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 1954, at the Lewistown Hospital.


He was born June 10, 1886, in Ryde, Mifflin County, a son of John E. and Minnie (Clippert) Pecht. He was twice married, the first marriage being to Edna Mae Rorer of Aughwick in 1906. They lived along the Shirleysburg Road and later moved to the Adams farm in Shirley Township. They moved to the home farm at Ryde April 1, 1916, and then moved to Mount Union in 1921. He managed a meat market in Mount Union for eighteen years. She passed away January 17, 1923.


He was united in marriage to Margaret Staynor December 25, 1925, and they made their home at Ryde. Previous to moving to Stoystown, he was manager at the Newtom Hamilton camp ground for seven years.


Pecht was a member of the EUB Church at Mount Nebo where he was Sunday School superintendent for many years. He was a trustee of the church, a member of the Men's Brotherhood, and a cherter member of Newton-Wayne Lions Club.


His wife and the following children survive: Charles Pecht of McVeytown; George D. Pecht of McVeytown, R.D.; John R. Pecht of Ryde; M/Sgt. Harold R. Pecht of Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Robert, Donald B., and Ida Mae Pecht, all at home. Two sisters, Mrs. W. H. Crone o Orbisonia and Mrs. E. C. Myers of Bloomsburg, fourteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren also survive. One son, Ernest, preceded him in death.


Funeral services will be held Friday, February 5, at 2 p.m. at the Clark funeral home in Mount Union. The Rev. David Allcorn, pastor of the EUB Church of Orbisonia, assisted by the Rev. Cloyd Fields, pastor of the Methodist Church of Lewistown, will officiate and burial will be made in the Mount Nebo Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday.
