Brian Carlquist was born to Richard and Willa Fitzgerald Carlquist. He attended Draper Elementary school, Mount Jordan Junior high and Jordan High School. Graduated in 1961. Brian was a dear friend and classmate. Who died way too young in Vietnam. Brian's name can be found on the Vietnam Memorial Panel # 3E Line #72.

Draper Parents Notified of GI's Death

Draper parents were notified before Thanksgiving of their son's death, killed in action in Vietnam while serving with the 1st Air Cavalry Division. Pfc Brian F. Carlquist, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carlquist, 1201 East 12400 So. was killed in a fight at La Dang Valley, according to military spokesmen.

Pfc Carlquist enlisted in the Army in 1963 and had been in Vietnam about 2 months. He was born in Salt Lake July 17,1943 and attended school in Draper. He was Jordan High School graduate.

Draper GI Killed in Viet Nam

Draper- The Richard Carlquist family of Draper will sit down to Thanksgiving dinner Thursday with a vacant place at the table. Mr. and Mrs. Carlquist received word Wednesday that their son Brian 21 was killed in action in Vietnam on November 17. The inevitable tragedy of war will be an uninvited guest Thanksgiving - as it will be for other American homes as the death toll in the Asian conflict rises.

Carlquist- Funeral services for Pfc Brian F. Carlquist will be held Tuesday 1 p.m. in the Draper 2nd Ward Chapel.
Friends may call at the Goff Mortuary Monday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday at the family home, 1201 E. 12400 So, one hour prior to services. Burial in Draper Cemetery. Goff Mortuary Funeral Directors.

Funeral services are from a clipping found at Draper Historical Society. No known date.
