Joseph Dyer married Rachel Prillaman in September of 1826 in Franklin County, VA. Their union produced a family of five children, one child dying in infancy. Sometime prior to May 1839, the family had moved to Christian County, KY, where it is believed Joseph ran a store. On 09 Nov 1841, at age 39, Joseph died suddenly and is buried in an unmarked grave in Christian County, KY.
