NEW CASTLE – Lois M. Hooks, 89, of 2604 Frew Mill Road, formerly of Beckford Street, died the morning of Jan. 21, 2010 at Jameson Hospital North. She was born Aug. 30, 1920, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Marie Rice Brennaman. She married Russell M. Hooks, who preceded her in death in 1984. She was a graduate of New Castle High School. Mrs. Hooks was employed by First National Bank as a teller. She was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the True Blue Sunday school class, the Graham Women's Circle, the Presbyterian Women's Association and was also a deacon. She is survived by one daughter, Patty Jo Dean of New Castle; one brother, Donald Brennaman of Zellwood, Fla.; one sister, Jayne Moore of New Castle; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Barbara Hooks; one son, Rusty Hooks; and one brother, Kenneth Brennaman. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road in New Castle. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Douglas Hughes will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
