Ferne Piggott Anderson passed peacefully to another life on Nov. 24, 2012, at Camden Clark Medical Center.

Born Christal Ferne Piggott on June 30, 1922, to Rueben L. and Nellie Whipkey Piggott at Belleville, W.Va., she attended Humphrey Grade School, Washington Junior High and graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1941.

On July 3, 1943, she married Charles M. Anderson. She had worked at American Viscose, and retired from Sears and Roebuck. A longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, she belonged to Sunday School classes and Prayer Groups, and helped to prepare for many dinners and bazaars. She loved to play "Bunko" with her neighbor and friends. In the past, she had belonged to Beta Sigma Phi and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra and Ed Flinn and Patti Carnes and Mike Spiker and his daughter, Alexis; granddaughter, Katie Flinn Hines and husband, Caitlin Hines, with great-grandchildren, Ellie and Wade Hines; granddaughter, Tessie Carnes and husband, Chuck Hardin; grandsons, Joey Carnes and Sarah Carnes, Tony Carnes and Cindy Hughart; son-in-law, Steve Carnes; several brother and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Anderson in 1979; an infant son, Robert; sisters, Regina Smith and brother-in-law, Lawrence Smith, and Laverne (her identical twin) and brother-in-law, John "Ted" Steele.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, with the Rev. Dave Stilgenbauer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and an hour prior to the service Tuesday.
