TREASH
Sarah J. Gilpin was born Feb. 10, 1823; Died March 30, 1899, aged 67 years, 1 month, and 20 days. She was converted and joined the M. E. Church when but 14 yewars old and lived in that church until about 17 years ago when she united with the Christian Church of Fairbury, of which she has been a member ever since. Just a few weeks before her death the pastor addressed letters to the members of the church that had not been in attendance since his installment, requesting that they reply, and if possible to make an offering for missions.
Her's was amoung the responses and a letter of the sweetest Christian spirit accompanied the offering which had only started on its merciful errand when she went to receive a reward for it and all the other good deeds with which her life was adorned.
She was united in marriage to Thomas H. Hart in April 1839; after his death she was married to Henry Treash in 1853. She was the mother of nine children, three of whom passed away before her. The funeral was held at the Christian Church in Fairbury on Saturday, April 1, and a large number of her friends were present and mingled their tears with those of her relatives. She was a firm believer in the doctrine of and pleas of the Christian Church and was an earnest contender for the faith. She rest from her labor and her works do follow her.
