Obituary: Daily Pantagraph, Bloomington, IL., March 26, 1920:
DEATH OF C. C. TREASH
Christopher C. Treash, proprietor of what was formerly the DeVary Grocery Store on East Beaufort Street, died of heart and kidney trouble at 8:26 Saturday morning. He had not been well for several days but his condition was not considered serious, and his death was entirely unexpected.
Mr. Treash was born near Mattoon, Ill., April 11, 1854. He was married twice, his first wife living only a year after the marriage. On November 7, 1873, he was married to Miss Florence Belle Carter. To this union eight children were born. The first, Lilly Luella, died in infancy. The remaining ones are: Mrs. Lucy Etta Keyes, of Terre Haute, Ind.; Mrs. Inez Irene Strickland, San Francisco, Cal.; Oscar E., Big Rapids, Mich.; Walter A., Pontiac, Ill.; Francis W., who lives in Missouri; Mrs. Viola Gertrude Anson, Davenport, Iowa; and George Elmer, Pontiac, Ill.
Besides his wife, he leaves twenty-six grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. May Teal and Mrs. E. A. Gordon of Pontiac.
The deceased was formerly a member of the United Brethren Church in New Goshen, Ind., but Mrs. Treash and he had recently put in their letters to the Normal Methodist Church.
For a number of years, Mr. Treash traveled over the counties in the eastern part of the state selling medicine. Before coming to Normal, he lived in Terre Haute, Ind. where he was in the grocery business. He was a man of sterling qualities and genial disposition. He was a friend to everybody and everybody was his friend.
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Chruch at 2 o'clock this afternoon, after which the body will be laid to rest in Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington.
NOTE: There is no grave stone. Sec. P, Lot 47, Grave 1. His grave is next to a stone reading Lillian Ammerman.
