Funeral services were held for Lowell (Shorty) Hagemann, 69, of Aurora, on October 17, 1988 at the Fairmount Chapel in Denver, with Pastor Frederick Hahn officiating.
Shorty was born July 2, 1919* and died October 14, 1988 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Aurora after a short hospitalization. He had suffered from emphysema for some six years, and was diagnosed as having terminal cancer in June of this year.
He received an eighth grade education at the Fairy Dell county school in Sedgwick County. After working on his parents' farm for several years, he attended welding school in Denver and later earned a G.E.D. diploma.
He married Darlene Sagehorn on May 15, 1941. To this union, two sons were born, Kenneth L. and Robert A. Hagemann.
The family made their home in Holyoke for many years. While in Holyoke, Shorty worked as a mechanic and later had the Case Implement dealership. In 1968 they moved to Aurora where he was employed by the State of Colorado in the Measurement Standard Division as a lab technician. After 13 years he took early retirement due to illness.
He was preceded in death by both his father and his mother, by a brother Rev. Harold Hagemann and another brother, Donald.
He is survived by his wife Darlene; his sons Brig. Gen. Kenneth L. Hagemann and his wife Jeanette of Omaha, Nebraska and Robert A. Hagemann and his wife Marietta of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren; a twin sister Lois Heginbotham of Denver; a brother, Ronald of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming; a sister Joan Carruthers of Cheyenne, Wyoming and host of relatives and friends.
He was laid to rest at Fairmount Cemetery in Denver.
