I'm an avid family history nut and began building my family tree about 13 years ago. Find A Grave has been an invaluable research tool. I have three young grandsons and it is my hope that I can leave them with a sense of the larger family picture, a sense of belonging. I believe knowing where we come from is very important in determining where we are going.

I became a photo volunteer in hopes of helping others find their family members so that they too can pass this information on to younger generations. I am no longer able to get out and walk the cemeteries but still contribute when I can.

EDITS: I'm in the process of updating the memorials I've created. I am using all available genealogical resources, newspapers, etc. to build a bio for each person. If you find errors in my research or corrections that need to be made, by all means submit a suggested edit. I will make every effort to corroborate the information you send me and get the edit processed as soon as possible. Sometimes I'm unable to verify the information and will decline the edit but will contact you for more information. Hopefully between the two of us we can get the verification and make sure the correct information gets on the memorial.

TRANSFERS: I will transfer memorials within Find-A-Grave guidelines unless I am also related to the person. If your relationship to them is closer than mine we can discuss it. If your relationship is not within guidelines, ask anyway! If it's your 4th great-grandfather and I'm not related to them then I see no reason why I should hang on to it if a family member wants to manage it.

Sometimes folks get too attached to the memorials they have created. They create layers and layers of rules and things they will and will not do regarding corrections and transfers. I like to think of managing a memorial as being a caretaker or a steward of sorts. I'm helping to preserve the memory of the person and document their final resting place. Nothing more. Nothing less.
