Wheel Driver 1st Reg Oh Vol. Soldier, Civil War. Columbus Cilley was the third of eight children of Bradbury Cilley and his wife, Harriet Hedges Cilley. Author, J.P. Cilley of Rockland, __, describes him/his family on p38, as family number #695, in his lovely green leather, hard bound, slim book, The Cilley Genealogy. He also tells us that Columbus married his wife, Agnes Anderson on the 30 October 1867.

Page 261, Ford's History of Hamilton Co, OH (1881), R977.199 fF7.1, desk wall, PLCHC, tells us that Columbus Cilley enlisted as a Wheel Driver, 1st Regiment, Ohio Light Artillery on 2 Dec 1861. Ford explains that Columbus continued as a Civil War soldier until December 1864, and served in battles of Gettysburgh, Fredericksburgh, Chanellorsville [Chancellorsville?], Manassas Gap, and other hotly contested, bloody engagements. He died a young man less than ten years after the war.
