Glenn Chalupsky, 78, of New Prague, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 at Fairview Southdale Hospital.

Glenn was born July 19, 1933 in Helena Township, Scott County, the son of Joseph F. and Ann R. (Bastyr) Chalupsky. He grew up on the Chalupsky farm and worked the farm until age 36. He attended St. Wenceslaus School and New Prague High School. After his father died in 1968, he moved into the town of New Prague with his mother and went to work at the post office. He retired from the New Prague Post Office at age 58.

Glenn played DRS baseball and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. Bowling was another hobby and he bowled on many teams in New Prague. His Czech heritage was important to Glenn, showing in his involvement with the organization of the Miss Czech Slovak Minnesota pageant as well as being active in the Montgomery Kolacky Days Queen Pageant. He loved traveling to Minnesota city festivals throughout the state where he collected festival and event buttons. Glenn was a member of the Knights of Columbus and KD’s. He has lived at Mala Strana since September 2010.

He is survived by sister, Joan E. (Arnold) Sticha of Shakopee; nieces, Laure (Jon) Otting of Lakeville, Karla (Steve) Gemuenden of Savage; nephew, Russ (Maureen) Sticha of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is Thursday, Dec. 1 from 9-11 a.m. at Bruzek Funeral Home, New Prague. Funeral service follows the visitation at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Lapensky officiating. Pallbearers include great-nieces and nephews, Justin Otting, Brandon Otting, Calvin Otting, Courtney Otting, Erik Gemuenden, Jared Gemuenden, and Jack Sticha. Interment at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague.
