Rev. Wayne Edwin Briggs, 87, of Woodlawn, Va. died at the Twin County Regional Hospital, Saturday, April 15, 1995. Rev. Briggs was a retired minister of the Church of God, Cleveland, Tenn., having pastured several churches in Virginia and West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Ovila Briggs. Surviving are the following: daughters and son-in-law, Florence and Emory Collins, Salem, Ruth and Roger McGlocklin, Woodlawn, Darlene and Ronald Thomas, Glade Springs; sons and daughters-in-law, James Briggs, Woodlawn, Russell and Myrtle Briggs, Roanoke, Rev. John and Zona Briggs, Fredericksburg, Paul J. and Jo Ann Briggs, Waynesburg, Tommy and Carolyn Briggs, Hillsville, Rev. Bob and Dot Briggs, Glade Spring, Bill and Linda Briggs, Saltville; sister, Rachel Coe, Jacksonville, Fla.; twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Woodlawn Church of God with interment in the Pleasant View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, Galax, Va. Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
