Basila and Hugh retired to the Abbey of Bec in France c. 1082 with her niece, Ansfride. They were still living c. 1093, when St. Anselm was consecrated Archbishop of Canterbury. A letter from Anselm to Basile has been preserved. Both are buried at the Abbey of Bec.
