Life Sketch of Lulu Thornton
Kind Editor,
With your permission I wish to write a sketch of the life of my dear sister, Lulu Thornton who passed away in Taft, Calif., March 3, 1935. She was born in Texas County Missouri, July 1876 where she received her education and grew to womanhood. She was the daughter of the late Eli and Jennie Wilson.
She taught in the rural schools and was a very proficient teacher. She was a member of the Baptist Church and lived a devoted Christian life. She let her light shine daily. She was always kind and loving to all and always wore a smile. She was patient through her long illness. It not being my opportunity to be at her bedside, which I regret but I was always with her in prayer. She was joined in wedlock to Evert Thornton and to this union were born three daughters and three sons. Dearest sister how we loved her and her loss we deeply feel, but the memory of her love and kindness to me will always be so real.
She leaves to mourn, her husband, three sons, Jean who preceded her in death, Joe and Neal, and three daughters, Faye, Louise and Maxine all of Taft, California, three sisters, Mrs. T. B. Mitchell, San Bernardino, Calif., Mrs. Sid Scott, Dianuba, Calif., Mrs. Jeff Winters, Pheonix, Arizona, three brothers, Dick Wilson, Dianuba, Calif., J. R. Wilson, Web Wilson and Less Wilson all of Licking, Mo.
She was laid to rest in a Mausoleum in Taft, California to await the resurrection morn.
