The well-known farmer, a lifelong resident of McCracken County, was a passenger in a car driven by his son, T. A. Harris Jr., which crashed through a guard rail and down a railroad embankment at the west city limits on Highway 60. The younger Harris suffered a broken back in the crash and a third man, Louis Helfer, was also Injured.
Mr. Harris is survived by five sons. Jesse, Stanley, Holland and T. A. Harris all of McCracken County, and James Carl Harris of Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Crawley of McCracken County; a brother, Dewey Harris of McCracken County; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Staley and Mrs. Beulah Averitt, both of McCracken County, and Mrs. Zada Price of St Louis; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Lindsey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Henry Wyatt and the Rev. Clay P. Roach officiating. Burial will be in Harris Cemetery.
