Mr. Dawson retired in 1986 from Navistar (International Harvester) after working there for over 30 years.
Leroy married his wife, Barbara, on March 16, 1985, and she survives. Other survivors are Susie Rea, friend and mother of his son, Ray (Sally) Dawson and daughter, Kathy (Dave) Millis. Also survives are a brother, John (Sandy) Dawson; sisters, Alma (Joe) Merriman and Mae (Eddie) Sexton; grandchildren, Kristie (Todd) Lowe, Erin (Ronnie) Goney, and Michelle (Craig) Kersey; great-grandchildren, T.J. Lowe, Dawson and Ashton Goney; and several nieces and nephews.
Leroy enjoyed casinos, the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and stock car racing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 27, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
