Clyde M. Dawson, 77, of 218 Green Valley Road, Vevay, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital.

He was born on March 12, 1924, in McCrory, Ark., the son of Roy and Eupha Capps Dawson. He lived for the past 25 years in Switzerland County after residing in Fortville since 1949, and was a retired farmer and still enjoyed raising ostriches, peacocks and goats. He was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in McCrory.

Surviving are his wife, Zilpha Mae Reeves Dawson; four sons, Clyde Wayne Dawson of Vevay, Walter Lee Dawson of Fortville, Melvin Lynn Dawson of New Berlin, Wisc., and Herbert Dawson of Dupont; a stepson, Dean Roberts of Greenfield; two daughters, Linda McKenzie of Vevay and Pam Minch of Fortville; three sisters, Lucille Webb of San Diego, Calif., Mae Sexton and Alma Merriman, both of Greenfield; two brothers, Floyd Dawson of Marion, Ky., and John Dawson of Indianapolis; 23 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepdaughter, Sue Bowens; three brothers, Stanley, Lonny and Walter Earl Dawson; an infant sister; and a grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay with burial in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
