Ed L. "Hap" Harvey Jr., 79, of West, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Senior Care Center in Hewitt. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague, with Minister Bob Martin officiating. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.

Edwin Leroy Jr. was born in Rosenberg, Texas, to the late Edwin Leroy and Velma Mae (Baum) Harvey Sr. He attended Burbank Elementary School in Houston and graduated from Jewett High School in 1951. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. On May 16, 1953 he was united in marriage to Desta Watrous in Houston. Ed worked as a sales representative for several large companies. He owned and operated Royal Craft where he provided lamps and lighting for hotels and apartments. Ed was a member of the West Church of Christ and a former member and Elder for the Teague Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Rotary International Club in Teague. He loved teaching the Bible to many and enjoyed oil painting and making pottery.

Ed is preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Harvey and Wilmeth Harvey; and sisters, Mercedes Coalson, Elise Jennings and Edna Srubar.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Desta, of West; son, Craig Harvey and wife, Ginger, of Arlington; daughter, Donna Dawley, of Plantersville; grandchildren, Collin Harvey and wife, Jennifer, Cori Dawley, Bradley Harvey, and Mark Harvey; great-granddaughter, Allison; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
