Grady Roosevelt Alexander, 80, of McComb, MS, died October 22, 2012, at Courtyard Nursing and Rehab. Mr. Alexander was born October 22, 1932 in Jayess, MS. He was the son of Reuben L. and Berchie A. Mulford Alexander. Mr. Alexander was discharged from the Air Force in the late 1950's. Later Grady went to work for the Vaccarella's where he retired upon the closing of the shop Rite Liquor Store. He devoted 25 years to the Fernwood Volunteer Fire Department. He belonged to the Fernwood Baptist church in Fernwood where he resided. He also attended Calvary Baptist Church in Pricedale with family and friends. Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Braswell Alexander; his parents, Berchie and Reuben L. Alexander; his brother-in-law, Buell Buford Marbury; his son-in-law, Harold Lloyd "Butch" Hoatland. Survivors include his two sons, Wayne W. Alexander and wife, LauraLee of McComb and Wendall Alexander and wife, Jan of McComb; one daughter, Mary Elizaberth "Liz" Hoatland of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Roland Alexander of Pricedale and William Earl Alexander Sr. and wife, Kathryn of Pricedale; two sisters, Louise Alexander Marbury of McComb and Ruby Nell Alexander Wicker and husband Rev. Thomas Wicker of Lincoln County, MS; his grandchildren, Jennifer Alexander and James Ray Privatte, Jamie Lynn Hoatland, Wendall Jr. and Crystal "Lapinto" Alexander, Jeremy W. and Lisa Hoatland, Timothy W. Alexander, Natalie A. Alexander and Tyler W. Alexander; two great grandchildren, Joshua and Caitlin Privatte. Pallbearers will be Timothy W. Alexander, Jeremy W. Hoatland, Randy Marbury, James Ray "J.R." Privatte, Randy Boyd, William E. Alexander Jr., Mark Wicker, Eric Wicker and Wade Wicker. Visitation is Thursday, October 26, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Jones Family Funeral Services and will continue Friday from 9:00 until services at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Thomas "Teebo" Wicker will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Pricedale, MS.
