Wilda Arlene Thatcher was born near Oskaloosa, Iowa on March 1, 1925; the daughter of John and Ella McFall LaForce. She completed her schooling at the Star country school near Oskaloosa. Arlene was united in marriage to Glen Thatcher on April 25, 1959 in Lancaster, MO. She worked at Thomas Grocery Store in What Cheer before become a Dietician at the Pleaant Park Care Center in Oskaloosa. After retiring she became very active in her granddaughters lives. Arlene was know for her giggling and always having a pleasant smile.

She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Floyd, Harold, Rex and James LaForce; four sisters: Edith Cline, Wilma McKim, Mable VerPloge and Vera Durham.

Arlene is survived by her husband Glen "Chub" Thatcher of What Cheer; her daughter, Debra Shipley of Keswick; a sister, Delores(Bill)Goodman of Rose Hill; three granddaughters: Stephanie(Eric)Shilling of Rayville, MO, Stacie(Cory)Havill of Norway and Susanne Shipley of Clinton; four great grandchildren: Elijah Shilling, Mikiah Shilling, Braeton Havill and Mason Havill.

Funeral services for Arlene Thatcher, 87 of What Cheer will begin at 10 am on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. Visitation will be in the Indianapolis Cemetery near What Cheer. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
