Funeral services for Lloyd "David" Strickland, 84, of Chandler are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Martin Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Russell Kuhns officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors, Tyler.

Pallbearers will be Larry Wayne Strickland, John Smiley, Reggie Durham, Ronnie Jack Smiley, Bill Daily and Curtis Durham.

David was born on Aug. 7, 1928, in Snyder to the late Bert and Elizabeth Hendrix Strickland. He passed away peacefully on Oct. 21, 2012, in Tyler.

He worked for many years in the oil field and after retirement he enjoyed bailing hay as often as he could. Martin Springs Baptist Church was his church home for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Billie Orchard Strickland; children, Barbara Utley of Chandler and David Lee Strickland of Stillwater, Okla.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Martin Springs Baptist Church, 8809 County Road 3408, Chandler, 75758; or Legacy Hospice, 120 E. South Town Drive, Tyler, 75703.
