Services for Mary Virginia Saxon Parker, 87, Murchison, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, Murchison, with the Rev. Brooks Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens, under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens. Mrs. Parker died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, in Tyler. She was born in Murchison Jan. 10, 1925, to the late Reuben Elmo and Bertha Virginia McClain Saxon. She was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Murchison for 50 years and was the post master for 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with family, RVing and traveling. She was a 74-year member of First United Methodist Church Murchison. She was preceded in death by sisters, Wilma Magee, Lois Asher, Earlie Mae Tedford, Ruby Lee Hardin, Evelyn Taylor, Jessie Lou Brown and Grace Tompkins; and brothers, R.E. Saxon Jr. and Ardis Saxon. Survivors include her loyal, faithful and loving husband of 68 years, Darold E. Parker; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Mahlon Parker of Bullard and Paul and Sue Parker of Lufkin; grandchildren, Daniel Parker, Darren Parker, Dana Evans and Shannon Mattingly; great-grandchildren, Britianie Parker, Joshua Mattingly, Boone Evans, Allee Parker, McKenzie Mattingly and Abbee Parker; brother, Dan Mack Saxon, Chandler. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to First United Methodist in Murchison.
