"At his residence, in Delhi township, Hamilton county, Ohio, on the 28th of January 1851, Mr. Geo. VAUGHAN, in the 80th year of his age.
Mr. Vaughan had long been a citizen of this county and sustained to the hour of his death the character of an independent, honest and industrious man."

List of children varies from the John of RI book. Not sure which is right. Biggest discrepancy is that the John of RI book says that Liberty Vaughan was born in Manchester in 1798, and that George moved in the winter of 1799 to Ohio. Liberty Vaughan's headstone indicates he was born in Vermont in 1804

From the John Vaughan of RI book, "In 1798 George emigrated to Ohio and traveled there on a four horse sleigh with all his possessions. He settled first in the bottom lands of the Ohio river near Columbus, about 5 miles from Losantiville (a named derived from Le-os-ante-ville, now called Cincinnati) on land purchased from John Cleves Symes. Later he moved to Delhi Township, now Price Hill, Cincinnati; and died there in 1852. John G. Vaughan was told that the family Bible was lost after demise of Ruth Richards Vaughan. [Must be a "misprint", since Losantiville is Cincinnati, not Columbus]

Mr. Bryant:
Thanks for your query to our site. George Vaughn is listed on census in Delhi Township in 1830 and 1840. (James and Liberty Vaughn are also listed on these censuses) In addition, here is what we have in our files on him. George Vaughn - married to Ruth Richards. When he came to Ohio, they first settled at Culloms about five miles from Cincinnati. (Culloms Ripple was along the Ohio River, west of Cincinnati in what is now known as Sedamsville). George was born about 1777 and died in 1852. His son John (1806-1893) was married twice 1) Lucille Mattice, 2) Eliza Tyler.

G. Vaughn is shown owning 50.75 acres in section 6 of Delhi Township on an 1820 plat map. This land is currently in the Price Hill neighborhood in the city of Cincinnati. The 1869 plat map of Delhi shows the same property split in two and owned by J. Vaughn and R. Vaughn. There was a Vaughn Road in Delhi and Price Hill named after James Polk Vaughn, but it was renamed Rosemont Avenue when the area was subdivided. There used to be a road called Vaughn Road in Sedamsville (see above) but it was changed to Flasch Road in 1910.

This is from a book called "The New Pioneers, The People of Delhi 1830-1900":
One of the earliest settlers of Section 6 was George Vaughn. George purchased 51 acres from John Cleves Symmes around 1800. This property was just about in the center of the section. It's likely George's house stood in the area of Rosemont and St. Lawrence Aves. Later he added 40 additional acres south of his home in the area of Rosemont and West Eighth Street.
Price Hill at this time was virtually uninhabited. The view from the Vaughn home must have been spectacular looking east toward Cincinnati.
Not much is known about these early Vaughns. Rosemont Avenue from Delhi Pike to Glenway Avenue was called Vaughn Road until around 1900.
Grandchildren of George and Ruth Vaughn include John and James Polk Vaughn (3-30-1848).

The 1850 census, Delhi, Hamilton, Ohio: George Vaughn; occupation farmer, born in Vermont, age 79
Ruth, wife, age 64 born in New York
Ruth Zubnthale(?), age 28
Lucille, age 5
Louis, age 3
C A W Day, age 10
Angelia, age 2
real estate value: $12,500

A George Vaughn appears on the 1800 census living in Rutland, Vt.

Here are some other George Vaughns: George B. Vaughn, b. 1856, died 1939 buried in St. John Cemetery (which was a Evangelical church at the time).

George Henry Vaughn 1891-1950, also buried in St. John's.

Upon checking many of the other Vaughns in our records, I notice that many of them are buried in St. John's. This church was founded by mostly Lutheran German immigrants in 1849 but the church property wasn't purchased until 1852. It is very unlikely that George would be buried there.
There are several Vaughns buried in Delhi's oldest church cemetery, Shiloh United Methodist Church, which contain burials since 1828. They include Elizabeth (1837); Rhoda, wife of James (1855); Charles (age 6), son of James and Rhoda (1858); and James, consort of Rhoda (1851).
I hope you are able to make sense of all of this and that it is helpful to you. It is unlikely that the Vaughn house is still standing in Price Hill as this entire area was subdivided between 1900 and 1920.
If you need more information about later Vaughns, just e-mail back. I have more info on James Polk and John. We also have several more Vaughns in our files, but I have no clue whether they are related to George.
