He was born in San Pedro, California on May 22, 1943 to William Moreland and Gladys Ila Bishop. He was graduated from Narbonne High School in Harbor City, California and Harbor College in Wilmington, California before entering his career at CF Braun & Co. He worked his way up from Supplier Drawing Coordinator to Senior Field Materials Manager/Purchasing Agent and worked for the company for 35 years. He worked in many states as well as Canada, Kuwait, Trinidad and Holland. Through his work and travels he visited all of the United States except North Dakota and Hawaii as well as many nations throughout the world. Don retired to Texas and lived in Sun City, Georgetown for 16 years.

He is survived by his wife Ruby Bishop of Georgetown, Texas: two sons, Steven Bishop of Sacramento, California and Michael Bishop of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Shannon Bishop of Santa Monica, California; stepsons, Don, Lamond and Malcolm Carter of Houston, Texas; stepdaughter, Danielle Vargas of Summerville, Texas; brother, William Bishop of Murrieta, California; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 9 nieces and nephews. Don enjoyed working on his computer, astronomy, meeting his buddies for their weekly poker game and rooting for the Los Angeles Dodgers, UCLA Basketball and USC football. A big thank you goes to the doctors, nurses and therapists at Scott & White, especially Dr. Christopher Hearne and Dr. Marilyn Clark. His philosophy of life comes from Lazaras Long, "Everything in excess! To enjoy the flavor of life, take big bites. Moderation is for monks."
