Mr. Julius Joseph "Joe" Mladinich (1921-2011), age 90 years, of Marrero, Louisiana, died Thursday, January 27, 2011, in Marrero. Mr. Mladinich was born in Biloxi and had been a longtime resident of Marrero. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII with 23 years of service and also retired from civil service as ship inspector for Avondale Shipbuilding. He was a Catholic.
Mr. Mladinich was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Griffin Roddy Mladinich (1922-1999), a native of Thibodeaux, Louisiana; parents, Andrew Mladinich (1877-1938) and Mary Bourgeois Mladinich (1897-1971); and brothers, Andrew Mladinich (1920-1955) and Ernest Mladinich. He is survived by his son, Andy Mladinich; step-son, Brad (Ann) Roddy; sisters, Eva Mae Mallette, Lucille Ballinger, Thomozina Hebert, and Mary Ann Johnson; and two grandchildren, Shannon Roddy and Amanda Roddy.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi where friends may visit from 9 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery with military honors.
