Isaac was the son of Japheth Allen and Elizabeth (Thomas) Allen. Japheth Allen fought in the battles of Lexington and Bunker Hill during the Revolutionary War. About 1780, the family moved from Bridgewater to Tamworth, NH. This was the year that his father bought property in Tamworth from Jonathan Moulton [Stafford Co. Registry of Deeds, Book 2, p. 578]. Isaac's siblings were all born in Massachusetts, and he was born after their move.
