Lee "Olan" was the son of Thomas Jefferson & Pernedia (Featherston) Chappell.
He married Mary Cleo Hays in Henrietta, Clay Co, TX on Oct. 29, 1933. In 1936 they had a son, Johnnie.
On April 7/8, 1940, Olan, age 27, & Cleo, age 23, lived in Precinct 3, in Clay Co, TX with their son, Johnnie, age 4. The Federal Census record indicates that this was where they lived in 1935.
His wife's obituary indicated that, "They farmed and ranched all their married life and raised their family on the family farm southwest of Henrietta."
Mary "Cleo" died on February 16, 2000. Lee "Olan" followed her on Sept. 8, 2001. His obituary was published on in Wichita Falls in the Times Record on September 9, 2001.

Bowie - Lee Olan Chappell, 88, of Bowie died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, in Bowie. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fry Funeral Home with Kenneth Avaritt, Church of Christ minister, Benton, Ark., officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr. Chappell was a retired farmer. Survivors include a son, Johnnie Lowell of Bowie; three daughters, Mary Deleen Ruebush of Silver City, NM, Linda Shiflet of Roanoke, Texas, and Glenda Lea Buck of Nocona; a brother, C.H. of Lewisville, Texas; a sister, Vada Davis of Henrietta; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home."
