Afton B. Ricks, 87 passed away peacefully February 19, 2003 at the Golden Living Center in Orem, Utah.

She was born March 15, 1915 and was the third child born to Willard George Bawden and Annie Elizabeth Wallace in the Granger, Utah family home.

She married her "True Love" Ben E. Ricks in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 6, 1940. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1983.

After she became a widow, Afton served for eight years in the Salt Lake Temple as an ordinance worker. She lived in Salt Lake City, Woods Cross, Centerville, West Bountiful, Bountiful and Orem Utah.

Afton was a U of U graduate and retired after teaching in the primary and secondary schools for 23 years in the Granite and Davis County School Districts. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She loved music, had a beautiful soprano voice and shared her talents with many. Her zreation of lovely afghans was unique and pleased those who received them.

She delighted in the great outdoors enjoying gardening and camping with her husband.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many positions throughout her life some of which were Primary teacher, Ward and Stake Relief Society leader, Ward chorister and choir director. Afton served eight years as an extraction worker. She was 1st vice captain and organist with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Afton and Ben, served a Stake Mission and a full-time mission (1980-1981) in the Louisville Kentucky Mission. She has a deep love for the lord, and has a strong unwavering testimony of the gospel.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons: Yvonne Pratt/Cottle (Lynn), Bountiful; Linda Eggett (Douglas), Provo; Georgia Richey (Stephen), Ogden; Thomas E. Ricks (Virginia), Gilbert, Arizona; Gordon B. Ricks (Nancy), West Bountiful. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren, one sister Louise B. Broadbent, Clearfield, and two brothers John L. Bawden, Provo, Reuel J. Bawden, St. George. Preceded in death by her son Boyd H. Ricks, a brother, W. Wallace Bawden and two sisters, Alice B.Barney and Wilma B.Ward.

Mother, you have given to us a great legacy of determination, example and unconditional love. We will miss you and we know you are happy and "Together Forever" with Dad.
