Funeral services for Artie Ray Self, 76, of DeRidder, La. will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder, La. with Rev. Sheldon Sigler officiating. Interment will be in Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, La. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and from 8 a.m. until service time Sunday, at Hixson Funeral Home. He passed away at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, La. Mr. Self was born in Vernon Parish and was a life time resident of DeRidder. He was a house painter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters and the mother of his children, Faye Wyatt Self. Survivors include daughters, Lavone Bertrand of DeRidder, La., Karen Trahan of Durango, Colo., and Cindy Cantrell of Rosepine, La., son, Leslie Ray Self of DeRidder, La.; sisters, Claudine Miller and Florence Hurley, both of DeRidder, La.; five grandchildren and one due Wednesday, Feb. 8; and one great-grandchild.
