Born in Rose Blanche on Nov. 3, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George and Amelia LeMoine. Adelaide was formerly an active member of the ladies auxiliary of both Branch 8 and Branch 19 legions. She was also a member of the Sydney Mines Pensioners Club, and the Memory Lane Fun Band. She loved her bingo and card games. Adelaide lived the last few years of her life at the Miner's Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines.
Adelaide is survived by her sons, Clarence (Agnes), N.B., Gary (Marcella), Sydney Mines, Fredrick (Lois), Dave (Patricia), William (Chris) and daughters Marilyn (Steve) Martell, and Cathy (Steve) Boldt, all of Ontario. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Stanley, John (Kate), Howard (Alice), Genevieve Neale, all of Ontario and Marilyn (Wayne) Thomas, Westmount; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Rodney (Blanche), North Sydney; sister-in-law, Estelle LeMoine, North Sydney and daughter-in-law, Alice Chislett, England.
Besides her parents, Adelaide was predeceased by her first and second husbands, Fredrick Chislett and Stanley Gracie; son, Lloyd Chislett; stepson, Steven Gracie; stepdaughter, Patricia Marie Gracie; sisters, Annie and Mae and brother, Jim.
Visitation for Adelaide Gracie will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Stacey Lemoine officiating. A reception will be held in Grandy Hall, after the funeral. The burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
