Born in Alder Point, he was the son of the late Ben and Ida (Devoe) Gracie.
He was a member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines.
He was the late surviving member of his immediate family.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife, Adelaide (Chislett); his children, Stanley Jr., Genevieve, Marilyn, John (Cathy) and Howard (Alice); his stepchildren, Bud (Aggie), Gary (Marcella), Fred (Lois), David (Tish), Bill (Chris), Marilyn (Steve) and Kathy (Steve) and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Myrtle (McKinnon), his daughter, Patricia Marie, his son, Steven Edward, his stepson, Lloyd Chislett and 17 siblings, Vincent, Billy, James, Earl, Laura, Joseph, Hubert, J. Theodore, Hazel, Helen, Gladys, Ida, Mary, Charles, Lillian, Adele and Harold.
Stanley worked as a mechanic in the coal mines from 1950 until his retirement in 1976.
He was a veteran of the Second World War and was a member and held offices in Breton branch 8 Royal Canadian Legion, Sydney Mines, and served in various capacities for the Golden Pond Co-operative.
Stanley was a hard-working, well-respected and caring man, who will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines with Fr. Ajit Kerketta officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
The family would appreciate donations to the sewage treatment facilities of the CBRM in memory of Stanley.
