Myrtle Herr, 99, Route 2, Westphalia, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at a Burlington care center.
She was born Oct. 24, 1899, in the Prairie View community near Waverly, to Hiram and Anna Fannin Bolen. She spent her early life in the Prairie View community.
She had been a member of the Prairie View Methodist Church and French Ridge Extension Homemakers Unit.
She married George Walter Herr on June 13, 1918, in Burlington.
They lived in the Stringtown community near Burlington and in the Mount Joy community east of Burlington since 1946. He died Dec. 1,
1975. A daughter, Floreine Murphree, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Elmer Dean Herr, Westphalia, and Robert Herr, Topeka; a daughter, Twyla Hunt, Omaha; a brother, Wes Bolen, address unavailable; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will be in Star Cemetery east of Burlington.
Mrs. Herr will lie in state until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University in Manhattan.
