Mrs. Bolen was born Alice May Ganson on Dec. 4, 1908, north of Leoti in Wichita County and was a resident of Quinter since 1939, moving from Wallace. She taught school in Wichita and Wallace counties for 10 years; operated the Goveland Theater for 30 years; built, owned and operated the Quinter Q-Cafe; and worked for Quinter Q-Inn for 23 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, both of Quinter; a former member of Jolly Time Club, Quinter; and a volunteer for the Quinter Senior Center and Red Cross. A son, Darrell died in 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Bolen of Dallas and Victoria Bolen of Knoxville, Tenn; two brothers, Jesse L. Ganson of Rossville and Arthur L. Ganson of Ashland; four sisters, Hazel Hester of Boise, Idaho, Edith Barrett of Quinter, Ella Friedell of Denver and Alma Hershinger of Englewood, Colo.; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Quinter United Methodist Church, the Revs. Elin Colglazier and Garner Berg officiating. Burial will be in Quinter Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S. Main, Quinter, where family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today.
