Mrs. Alfred (Gilma) Endahl, 85, of 765 Michigan Avenue S.W., died Thursday morning, May 9, 1985 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN after a brief illness.

Gilma Louise Bidne was born in rural Garretson, SD, to Gustava and Gullick Bidne on June 13, 1899. As a child she was baptized into the family of God, later affirming her faith as a Lutheran at Baltic, SD, where she grew to womanhood.

She attended Lutheran Normal School in Sioux Falls, SD, receiving a teaching certificate. She taught school for four years in the Baltic area. On September 5, 1921, she was united in marriage with Alfred M. Endahl of Lane, SD. They made their home in Lane, later moving to a farm south of Lane. They joined Solberg Lutheran Church. Gilma devoted herself to her family and her church, always willing to share her time and her talents for the benefit of others. After 58 years of married life, they moved to Huron, joining the American Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Karen Sandvig, and one brother, George Bidne. Survivors include her husband, Alfred; two sons, Alert of Huron and Gerald of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; one daughter, Madalyn, Mrs. Marvin Pearson of Minnetonka, MN; six grandsons and two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter and two great grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.
