Mrs. Johanna Schwende died suddenly while attempting to make a fire at the home of her son, L.O. Schwenke, Friday morning. She had not been feeling well since Sunday, but was up and around.
Johanna Schmitz was born at Fort Madison, Wisconsin, June 21, 1856, and departed this life November 8, 1929, aged 73 years, 4 months and 18 days.
She was united in marriage to Frank Schwenke when about 30 years of age.
To this union were born three children, Mrs. Frank Collar of Arnett, Oklahoma, L.O. [Lewis Oscar] Schwenke of Guymon, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Elbert Harney of Hennessey, Oklahoma, all of whom are still living.
She was raised up in the Christian belief and professed Christ in February, 1928.
The funeral services were held at the home on Sunday afternoon, Rev. Smith, of Elkhart, conducting the services. She was laid to rest in the Cox (Bethel) cemetery.
