They raised a large family in West Michigan in the Montague area of Muskegon Co., Michigan. Sarah was left a young widow with children when Fernando died in 1870. There were 9 living children when she died in 1904. She was laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shelby, Oceana Co., Michigan. Fernando's body was later removed from Mouth Cemetery in Muskegon Co., by the family of their youngest son Mark J. Sargent, and laid next to Sarah.
