Inscription

Fernando Sargent died 13 June, 1870 in the 45th year of his age
This is the verse from Fernando's marker. It is from Sir Walter Scott's poem, "The Lady of the Lake" written in 1810.

"Rest Soldier, rest! thy warfare o'er,
Sleep the sleep that knows not breaking;
Dream of battled fields no more,
Days of danger, nights of waking."
