Madison Norma (Abrahamsen) of Mpls., formerly of Des Moines, IA, died after a courageous 5 1/2 year battle with cancer. Norma went into the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, November 12 while praying the Lord's Prayer surrounded by her loved ones. Preceded in death by parents, Peter & Rigmor Abrahamsen; brother, Svend; sisters, Mary Yewell and Inger Connors; in-laws, Roy & Evelyn Madison. Norma is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, John; her adoring sister, Ann McCarty; her beloved son & daughter- in-law, John Jr. & Roxanne; her loving and precious grandchildren, Kristina, Jeffrey, Kelly and Kaylyn; sister-in-law, Betty Abrahamsen; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and close friends. Norma attended Grand View College in Des Moines, IA before moving in 1957 to Minneapolis where she taught elementary school. Norma gave the gift of loving children's literature to her adoring grandchildren whom she, with a gentle hand and loving heart daycared for 14 years. Norma's great love and devotion to God brought her a calling to share her gift at Central Lutheran Church where she volunteered for 44 years in a number of groups including her very special Floral Guild. Norma's fullness and joy of life gave her many special friends including those from the church community, two bridge groups and her Knob Hill Ski Club. Funeral service will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 333 S. 12th St., 11 am, Tues., Nov. 16 with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be held in Des Moines on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to Central Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
